Some businesses/organizations are eligible for free pickup service. For others, recycling and pickup fees may apply.
Pickup fees are determined for every pickup on a case-by-case basis. All associated fees are approved by the client before service.
Recycling fees apply to certain classes of material. These are additional service fees that are required to ensure proper recycling of materials that contain hazardous chemical compounds. For example, CRT monitors and TVs have associated recycling fees due to high quantities of mercury, arsenic, lead, and other hazardous elements in the equipment. Recycling fees for declared donated material will be approved before service.
Virginia public schools are exempt from all pickup & recycling fees. Computer Recycling of Va is proud to support education in Virginia.
Yes, however there is an additional recycling charge for TV's as well as CRT monitors. We will always be transparent about any fees applicable to your pickup.
VA schools do not pay recycling fees for TV's or CRT monitors.
No, you do not need to delete your personal data before donating. We have extensive secure data destruction protocols in place to ensure complete destruction of all past user data for every piece of equipment donated to CRVA.
We do request that organizations who have their devices registered under Mobile Device Management (MDM) remove them from your active management list. This includes logging out of Apple and iCloud ID for Apple devices and/or removing them from your Apple ID's device list. Security measures used by both common enterprise management systems and Apple can prevent CRVA from completing 100% data erasure. If your computers have a password-locked BIOS, it is beneficial to the erasure process to unlock & remove the password before donating for recycling, when possible.
(This does not apply to simple numerical or alphabetical password/passcode locks on device startup. Those passwords do not prevent us from completing data destruction).
No. At this time, we do not offer residential pickup. We pick up from and accept donations from corporate/organization affiliated locations only. There are no official drop-off locations for individuals to leave electronics for recycling.
CRVA is partnered with VPPSA to provide electronics recycling collection events across the Commonwealth where individuals may bring unwanted/unneeded electronics for recycling. Dates and locations for collection events can be found by visiting VPPSA.org.
Yes. All donations to CRVA are tax-deductible. We can provide a donation receipt as well as a Certificate of Recycling once the donated material has been processed.
